Did you know that there are 53 million Spanish speakers in the United States, and of those, 41 million are native speakers and 12 million are bilingual. The total population of the United States is 331.9 million, meaning that one person in every 6.5 people have Spanish as their dominant language.
In Canada, the number of people whose mother tongue is French is approximately 7.2 million, and that all of the services and documentation for the Federal Government must be bilingual in English and French; also, federal politicians and employes should be bilingual. The total population of Canada is 38.25 million, meaning that one person in every 5.5 people have French as their dominant language.
Having said the above, do you think that the United States, a country that does not have an official language at federal level should have more bilingual documentation?
